Interesting facts about the GBPSEK (British Pound to Swedish Krona)

The British pound (GBP) is the domestic currency of the United Kingdom. For the time being, this currency acts as one of the world’s reserve currencies due to the stability of the British economy. Despite the superiority of the dollar and the euro, GBP accounts for one-third of the world’s currency supply.

Even while Britain was a member of the European Union, GBP did not lose its status as the country’s only official currency. Its value relative to other currencies ensures the strength of the British economy (the country ranks seventh in the world in terms of GDP).

The Swedish krona (SEK) is the national currency of Sweden only. Sweden is a member of the European Union, but in a referendum held in 2003, it was decided not to adopt the euro. In Sweden, however, the euro is permitted as a means of payment. The Swedish krona is issued by the central bank of Sweden - Sveriges Riksbank.

The Swedish krona has some of the most attractive banknotes. According to D. Standish, author of the book ‘The Art of Money: The History and Design of Paper Currency from Around the World,’ the 20 krona note is included in the top-10 currencies by attractiveness. It depicts the famous children’s writer Selma Lagerlöf, and on the back is an illustration of her famous tale of Niels flying with wild geese.

SEK price movement is mostly influenced by the general state of affairs in the European Union. The GBP/SEK pair is not in great demand on Forex. The GBP/SEK rate may suffer significant volatility due to limited demand and supply. It is better to trade GBP to SEK from 10:00 to 19:00 (GMT+3, indicated in LiteFinance trading platform).
