PepsiCo, Inc. sells and distributes a wide range of foods and beverages through its operations and its partners, including authorized bottlers and contract manufacturers. The current PepsiCo, Inc. company was established in 1965 due to a merger between the Pepsi-Cola Company and Frito-Lay, Inc. It’s important to say that the Pepsi-Cola drink originated long before the foundation of PepsiCo, Inc. The Pepsi-Cola Company was founded in 1902 when Caleb Bradham, a pharmacist that invented the Pepsi-Cola drink, applied for a trademark with the US Patent Office.

Over its years of existence, PepsiCo has acquired numerous companies to broaden its product line. Moreover, it has sold and spun off some firms to focus on its core business.

In 2017, the company moved its listing to the Nasdaq from the New York Stock Exchange. The company’s stock kept its #PEP ticker. The move was made to achieve greater cost-effectiveness and access Nasdaq’s tools and services that would provide a more efficient connection between the company and its investors.

The company pays a cash dividend that has been growing over the past decade. The stock price is average for the company in the non-alcoholic beverages industry. However, PepsiCo’s revenue has been growing slower than the US market average. Moreover, the company’s earnings haven’t demonstrated solid long-term growth over the years. The return-on-capital-employed metric reflects the company’s efficiency at generating profits from its capital employed changes year to year. CFD trading may be less risky when dealing with PEP shares. Traders should check the company’s financial reports to predict the stock price.

PepsiCo’s top alternatives are The Coca-Cola Company, Kellogg, Keurig Dr. Pepper, Danone, Nestle, Red Bull, and Mondelez International. Traders should review these companies to be sure they don’t outperform PepsiCo. Otherwise, there is a risk the company will suffer a reduction in sales and a decline in the stock price.

Risk warning: Trading in FX and CFDs entails high risk of losing capital.

Interesting facts about the #PEP (Pepsi)

In 1893, Bradham began offering "Brad's Drink" at the soda fountain in his shop. The beverage contained sugar, water, caramel, lemon oil, nutmeg, kola nuts, and a few other ingredients. Five years later, Bradham renamed the drink Pepsi Cola because he believed it helped reduce dyspepsia (indigestion).

PepsiCo was the first American multinational to enter the Soviet market. In 1974, PepsiCo began marketing consumer goods in the USSR, as both countries sought to grow their regional footprint and income. The two nations wanted to seal the deal through trade. Tankers and freighters ranging in capacity from 28,600 to 65,000 tons were sold for about $300 million in 1990. This doubled PepsiCo's regional manufacturing capacity and enabled nationwide distribution.

During the Great Depression, Pepsi began selling 12-ounce bottles at the same price as its competitors' 6-ounce bottles. Profits doubled. They also created a catchy tune to remind clients of their low prices.

PepsiCo became the first soft drink company that started using two-liter bottles. It created a plastic container that was lighter than glass, didn't shatter when dropped, and didn't contaminate the contents.

Pepsi has experimented with various formulas throughout the world, as well as selling limited-edition flavors during holidays and special occasions.

Although Pepsi seems to be a follower of the Coca-Cola company, like Ethereum follows Bitcoin, Pepsi's stock price is higher than Coca-Cola's. This is because almost 55% of PepsiCo sales come from food and snack products, not beverages. Food has a higher margin in the company's revenue than beverages. At the same time, Coca-Cola sells only beverages.

Despite the stock market crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, #PEP shares managed to stay afloat. Analysts predict further appreciation. Still, investors and traders should pay attention to earnings reports, overall stock market sentiment, and internal developments of the company, including the release of new products and coverage of new markets.
